After a long work week in school, I finally found some time to try out the 5D Mark II. I’ve been a Nikon user all this time and shifting to Canon is my best move so far. Getting used to the Canon controls was not as difficult as I thought it would be, but it didnt go without a hitch. It took me a while before the D70s fit like a glove. I’ll be walking around more I guess, and shooting more as well. Hope to improve the way I see things and hopefully my stuff gets noticed locally so I can start real work.
My better, smarter, funnier half. She doesnt enjoy being photographed while watching TV. I don’t know how I got this frame though. Don’t you think she has the most adorable smile ever?
Bumped into my buddy Louis Isok of Enemies Of Saturn in school the other day, and he invited us to watch his band play at Saguijo. Sonic Boom Event.
First band to play was Ephesus. I use to hear them on the radio a lot before I actually got to see them. Good stuff.
The next band in the line-up was Switch. I don’t know where they came from, but they came strong. Amazing vocals, complimented by bladder bursting, synapse damaging, ear drum bursting electronica/industrial beats. I’ll get a vimeo account and upload a video I made. These guys became an instant favorite for me.
Next up was Tonight We Sleep. A 4 piece band that had a very nice sound. Almost Fallout Boy-ish, but underground. 😉
I think this dude had a fish adapter on. I want to see his photos.
After their set, the alcohol suddenly kicked in and I had to step out of the bar for a bit. It got pretty damn crowded and hot inside AND outside. The name of the next band escapes me as of the moment, but if anyone is reading this, please let me know who they are.
I stepped outside once again to hang out with Isok, Dennis, Van, GJ, Hans and the others. Here you have Louis and Van. Very photogenic haha.
When I walked back in, Severo was already playing and Enzo kept jumping around. Next to impossible to get a photo of him without flash haha. Let me take this time to give you an idea of the lighting here. Dim. Ugly. Next.
Finally, Louis and the rest of EOS started setting up and tuning their instruments. Louis prefers to play barefoot… Not sure why. He spent a couple minutes pulling out splinters after the set.
Fred setting up his drums. First time I’ve seen him play without his ear muffs. I think the groupies stole it. Fred is an amazing drummer.
EOS ended with an Encore. The only band that night that was called back to play one more song. Louis doing an insane guitar solo here. Im not sure if I have it on video. I’ll check.
I drove home soon after the event to get some much needed sleep. I’ll add more to this entry, or add another one later. I have to drop by Caroline’s for lunch, and then Commune Manila after with Toby.
Cheers from Toasty Manila
